Know When to Replace Your Tires

Is it Time to Replace My Tires?

Tires are often neglected and not considered unless it poses an issue. Don’t let that happen to your tires. Join us at Bluff Road Auto Sales in Columbia, SC, to learn how to check for yourself if it is time to replace your tires. Continue reading for more information.

When should you replace your tires?

Tires manufactured six to ten years from the date of purchase should be replaced at the earliest. Besides this, regular checking of inflation pressure and scheduled inspections should be conducted to prolong the tire’s life.

Other than the tire’s age, many other factors could cause tire wear, like a flat tire situation, aggressive driving on the road, off-roading, and many other similar reasons. While replacing your tires, you will have to change all four tires at once because tires are key to your vehicle’s performance and tires wear irregularly.

How to Check your Tire for Tire Wear?

To check tire wear, place a penny in your tire’s tread depth and check if you can see the President’s head. If it is visible, you should immediately change your tires as it signifies that your tire is not maintaining the optimum tread depth.

Alternatively, there are tread depth measurement machines and gauges available that can give you an accurate reading of your tread depth and help you analyze how much time you have left before changing your tires.
